The 25 Best Selling Steam Games From 2015

The year is coming to a close and it’s time to see the preliminary results for the best selling games on Steam in 2015.

While the year isn’t over just yet, we can safely draw some conclusions on the order as we head into Christmas (Merry Christmas)

Grand Theft Auto V is the best selling game that was released this year on Steam, followed by Fallout 4 and ARK: Survival Evolved. We’ve been having a blast with these three games so it comes as no surprise to us that they’re some of the top games released this year. We even have our own ARK server you can learn about in the forum.

As we can see, there are also some surprises in this chart. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, one of the most optimized PC games and received a huge amount of critical and public acclaim, wasn’t able to crack the 1 million sold copies (on Steam). It will be interesting to compare MGSV and Call of Duty: Black Ops III on consoles as that’s traditionally where their target market is.

Mad Max didn’t make a great showing; despite impressing gamers who may have written it off as a typical movie tie-in. Mad Max sold less than Batman: Arkham Knight.

It’s interesting to see more indie games in the top 10 amongst the GTA V’s and Fallouts. H1Z1, Rocket League, Cities: Skylines, Prison Architect, Besiege, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dying Light.

Just remember that this table of data only includes activations/purchases from April 1st to December 20th..

SteamSpy has shared more charts, so be sure to visit it in case you’re interested in sales for specific countries. So this is pure sales, not just games released this year. So you can see Counter-Strike Global Offensive performed very well this year.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll look at what did well in Australia. Unsurprisingly many showings from Bethesda games, partly due to the Fallout Anthology if we had to make a guess.

That’s all from us for this year (mostly). We’ll have a few updates here and there but we’ve got games to play over the Christmas break.

We’d love to hear what you’ve been playing this year though so please let us know in the comments below. Take care and have a happy holidays.
