Mini 16-bit system launches 30th September with 21 games, including the never-before-released Star Fox 2
On 30th September the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Nintendo’s follow-up console to the legendary Nintendo Entertainment System, returns in a new petite form as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES Mini).
Launched in Australia and New Zealand in 1992, the Super Nintendo introduced what many consider some of the greatest video games of all time – classics such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid and F-ZERO.
SNES Mini System contains 21 pre-installed classic games, and will come with a HDMI cable for use with current generation TVs.
Star Fox 2
For the first time, players who pick up the system can enjoy the intergalactic adventure Star Fox 2, the sequel to the original Star Fox (originally titled Starwing upon release in Australia and New Zealand) that was created during the Super Nintendo era but never released … anywhere!
The SNES Mini System has the same look and feel of the original system – only smaller – and comes pre-loaded with 21 games:

All of these games would be considered classics by anyone’s standards, and some of them in particular show up in our list of Top SNES Classics – Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and Earthbound – are massive role-playing games that can take dozens of hours to complete.
Though absent is Chrono Trigger which saw a re-release on the 3DS and is considered one of the great RPGs of the SNES generation. I suppose you’ll have to wait for it on the Virtual Console.
Even for super fans that have played all of these games multiple times, the inclusion of the never-before-released Star Fox 2 will offer them something entirely new to enjoy (players must prove their skill by completing the first level of the original Star Fox before Star Fox 2 is unlocked to play).

System launches in Australia and New Zealand on 30th September with a suggested retail price of AU$119.95. The Nintendo USB AC Adapter (SRP AU$19.95) will also launch on the same date, and is suitable for use with the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
If that’s too expensive for 21 games… you could always consider building your own with a Raspberry (retro) Pi.
