Blizzard has finally set a release date for its long awaited dungeon-crawler Diablo III. The first thing you’ll see if you head on over to the Battle.net page dedicated to Diablo III is the tagline ‘evil is back’ followed by the release date itself: May 15th, 2012.
“After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch,” announced Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.
“We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”
Digital pre-orders are now available, though at the moment, only the $59.99 digital edition is available through Battle.net. The similarly priced boxed copy, and the the $99.99 Collector’s Edition aren’t up on the Blizzard Store yet, but one would expect them to be added there eventually.
Diablo III will be available for Windows® and Macintosh®.
All that’s left to be said is: finally. Or, alternatively, “it’s about time.”
Calling it first….Pushed back until August!
At this point, I would not be at all surprised.
