What if our greatest heroes we’ve grown to love were our greatest threat? What if Superman was no longer our beacon of hope but merely a force of unstoppable destruction? What if Batman was indeed a Dark Knight with no remorse to protect us? What if Wonder Woman all of sudden became a destruction hungry psychopath? Or if the Justice League were no longer sworn to justice but Injustice, what then?
Ed Boon, creator of veteran fighting game series Mortal Kombat, and his team at NetherRealm come together once more with Warner Bros Games and DC Comics to piece together another masterpiece that puts our favourite DC super heroes up against each other in the upcoming 2013 title, Injustice Gods Among Us.
Showcased at last year’s EB GAMES EXPO in the Warner Bros Games section, I had the honours of playing what looks like the greatest fighting game of 2013.
Throughout the demo you don’t really get a sense of direction of what the story is about or what the characters have left their honourable code to protect. Regardless, the purpose of the demo is to explore its amazing cinematic game play and explore the other fighting elements the game portrays.
There were 8 characters to choose from so far, additional characters are still yet to be confirmed in the upcoming weeks. Current selectable characters within the demo were Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Batman, Nightwing, Harley Quinn and Solomon Grundy.
Each character is equipped with their own unique fighting style and fighting abilities. Also, they are all equipped with an incredible cinematic super move, for example The Flash runs around the entire world to deliver a hit, Superman smacks his opponent into orbit before flying up and delivering an overhead smash sending his opponent back to earth.
This can be executed once you fill a power meter included in the game, which can be built up by delivering combo hits to your opponent. Once built up you can execute by pressing the top four controls buttons.
In this case it was played on an X-BOX 360 console so simultaneously pressing LT,RT,LB,RB will activate the meter, where as if it were a PlayStation 3 console it would be L1,L2,R1,R2.
If you’re wanting to know more of how the game play is described, think of it as a Mortal Kombat style game with DC characters. A good example would be DC vs Mortal Kombat.
There are no rounds but two health bars that overlap each other, similar to Soul Calibur’s health meter, where you take off what I call armor health before actually doing damage to their red health meter.
Interaction with the environment is available to use to your advantage, such as picking up a car and slamming it on your opponent as well as the ability to punch your opponent through buildings, capturing perfectly a battle between two super heroes displayed in comic books and cartoons.
The graphics are exceptional especially the amount of detail put into the character features and environment, is just superb, making it have that ultimate balance. No doubt will it have a great story line associated with the DC characters, but it will also have great cinematic game play and environmental interaction, as well as unbelievably fantastic graphics, which makes up three of the most crucial elements that gives a gamer the ultimate, enjoyable gameplay experience.
So be prepared for what will be the greatest DC fighting game ever to stage. This will be the fight of the millennia as once called friends now become sworn and bitter enemies. It’s every man and woman for themselves, there is no such thing as Justice, there is no such thing as protect humanity, prepare for the end.

Injustice:God’s Among Us is set for release March 17th.
I expect:
*great deep story
*cool combat fighting
*lots of unlocks
*deep fun gameplay for casuals or hardcore
*hoping for better improved online system, even though MK9 had a good online system. But I dislike how people spam on Ranked matches and how rank match pitches you against someone so higher than you.
*Also hoping that the Player Match would be allowed for friendly matches. Because in MK9 people often play Player Match than Rank, and people take player match seriously when it’s meant to be a friendly match at times. Seriously…seeing top level players hanging around Beginners room:/
