The new year has brought forth the promise of hundreds of new games across numerous platforms and genres. While many gamers will be focusing on other video games such as Grand Theft Auto and Tomb Raider, fans of RPG’s will be happy to know that numerous epic games are coming out this year. Below are our picks for some of the best upcoming RPG games of 2013.
WSOP: Full House Poker Pro
The popular Full House Poker series has teamed up with the World Series of Poker to bring about WSOP: Full House Poker Pro. This new poker RPG game will feature first both first player campaign mode and online live mode as you work as a poker player to grow your bankroll, gain experience, and conquer the poker world.

Unlike many games, you actually gain experience in this game regardless of whether you win or lose at the game, meaning that the more you play, the more you earn towards upgrades. Also featured in the game are ESPN announcers Norman Chad and Lon McEachern, giving analysis just like you were playing at the final table of a televised WSOP event. WSOP:Full House Poker Pro will be on Xbox 360 Live and Windows 8 sometime in the spring.
The Elder Scrolls Online
This game will be Bethesda’s first attempt at an MMORPG and brings the world of Tamriel to life. Tamriel is the world used in Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Daggerfall. The story is set around 1000 years before Skyrim and the planet is being threatened by an evil daedric prince. In addition, players must fight as part of three warring factions on the planet in a struggle to rule the planet.

The Elder Scrolls Online will be available for PC and Mac soon and beta signups are already being taken for the game.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Those familiar with the first two editions of Final Fantasy XIII will be happy to know that the third installment in this game will actually feature legitimate RPG features where the other two seemed to be more cinematic in nature.

This time around, players only have to worry about controlling one character known as Lightning and players will be responsible for customizing her and controlling her decisions to actually make it a true RPG instead of a glorified storyboarder that the previous two games were. The game will be available later this year for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
