In a special message from Game Director Matt Frior The Elder Scrolls Online release date has been announced. The Elder Scrolls Online will be available worldwide for PC and Mac on 4.4.2014 and for PS4 and Xbox One in June 2014.
With over 4 Million gamers signed up to try to get access to the ESO Beta, ZeniMax Online has been testing server load capacities in anticipation for launch. Whilst they were able to test with over 300,000 players in the game over a 48 hour period they are going to act cautiously when servers go live.
“This means we need to do a staggered rollout of the different versions of the game to spread out the initial service load and ensure an enjoyable, smooth gameplay experience. It is not only a game we are launching – it is a large online service as well, and our number one priority is to ensure a trouble-free, stable rollout for everyone.”
The Elder Scrolls Online Release Date will be watched closely by gamers and news outlets alike for any slip-ups. Diablo III and SimCity are still fresh in the publics mind when it comes to a rocky launch.
PC and Mac players will be able to play together on either the EU or US MegaServer. Xbox One players will play on a specific MegaServer with other players using an Xbox One. PlayStation 4 players will have a specific MegaServer dedicated to only those players using a PS4.
There is no word yet surrounding Elder Scrolls Online Australian/Asian region servers. Bethesda had opened up a new office in Sydney this year though so we can still hope.
