When you need to promote one of the most anticipated films of 2016 you go all out. In the final weeks leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, new Star Wars ice cream flavours has been released.
The Star Wars-themed ice creams are available through New York-based Ample Hills Creamery who have produced two new flavours of ice cream.
The Light Side consists of bright marshmallow ice cream, with homemade crispie clusters, and a smattering of handmade cocoa crispies, while, The Dark Side is made of ultra-dark chocolate ice cream with espresso fudge brownies, cocoa crispies, and white chocolate pearls
Brian Smith, the co-owner of Ample Hills Creamery, said in a statement: “As a sci-fi writer in my past professional life, and a longtime Star Wars fan, this is a dream collaboration. And to be able to work with Lucasfilm and Disney Consumer Products to create new ice cream flavors that represent the two sides of the Force… that might just be the coolest thing we’ve ever done.”
The ice cream can be ordered at the Ample Hills website here, and comes as part of a four-pack set, costing $36. The downside is this ice cream is only available for shipping in the US so Australian fans may have to wait to get a Choc-top in the cinema when The Force Awakens comes out.
This isn’t the first time we’ve companies promoting new releases by pairing up with ice cream stores. In June earlier this year Australian based ‘N2 Extreme Gelato’ created DC Comics-inspired flavours to promote Batman: Arkham Knight.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 17, 2015. It also stars John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
