Continuing our video series of chatting with Aussie indie developers, we take a look at Daniel Sun and Sun-Studios’ action title ‘Armed with Wings: Rearmed’
We were lucky enough to have a go on AwW:R away from the hustle and bustle of the show floor in the days leading up to PAX. What struck us first of course was the art style, as Daniel (Sun) mentions it’s quite like LIMBO in that regard.
The combat itself is fluid and encourages you to keep moving as you try and get past the defences of your enemies. There are alternate weapons to unlock that have different speed and power so you can find a play-style that suits.
Adding to the mechanics include puzzle solving involving the environment and use of your friendly bird buddy. Be aware this puzzle platformer doesn’t have a traditional jump mechanic as Daniel points out in the video, so you’ll need to be clever on how you get around.
Armed with Wings: Rearmed
Being developed by a single developer, Armed with Wings: Rearmed is a 2D action/puzzle platformer set in the dark and dilapidated world of Black Mist. Players control both a skilled warrior and cunning eagle, traveling through various lands and fortresses that challenge the player’s ability to solve puzzles, engage enemies and traverse platforms.
Armed with Wings: Rearmed is currently available via Early Access on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/340580/
As the New Year rolls around we’re getting through the backlog of video interviews we did at PAX last year. Until then you can read my recap on Day 1 and Day 2 of PAX Australia 2015 to get a taste of what’s to come.
