Fallout 4: Automatron Trailer

Fallout 4 DLC Automatron

The trailer for Fallout 4‘s first DLC, Automatron, has arrived, if you’re excited about customizing and exploding robots, this is for you.

Automatron will be available for download across Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Tuesday, March 22, and will cost $9.99 in North America.

Announced as the first in a line-up of DLC to come out for Fallout 4 this year, Automatron expands the story of the Commonwealth with the mysterious mechanist and a horde of evil robots. Players will be able to hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod their own custom robot companions.

New customization options include: mixing limbs, armour, abilities, and weapons such as the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! (For characters level 15 or higher.)

Automatron marks the first add-on release for Fallout 4. In April, Bethesda is expanding the capabilities of settlements with Wasteland Workshop, and in May, lone wanderers will be able to travel beyond the Commonwealth to Maine for Far Harbor – the largest landmass Bethesda Game Studios has ever created for post-release content.

Stay tuned for more details on free updates like Survival Mode and the Creation Kit, which will allow you to create mods on the PC and then share and play them across all platforms, including consoles.

Opinion and Analysis:

This could breathe some new life into Fallout 4 but I’m hesitant to jump on board too quickly. After 80 hours or so, the “Kill, Loot, Return” mentality of super mutants and Fallout 4 starts to wear a little thin.

Does a new customizable companion and modifications on gear and weapons add enough to this title? I’m interested to see if Robobrain and The Mechanist offer a better kind of quest, or if it’s more of the same.

Are you looking forward to the Automatron DLC?
