Whether or not The Last Guardian will ever be released is a question that has been plaguing the Internet since the early days of the game’s development cycle, and now The United States Patent and Trademark Office have filed an official statement that seems to answer the question, and it is now likely The Last Guardian will never be released from the bowels of development limbo, as Sony have now failed to extend the trademark.
The reason for this disbandment is as follows: “Abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued”.
Prior to this news, the last anyone heard about this highly anticipated Team ICO game was in December 2014, when the lead developer stated, that despite the fact news concerning the game had been scarce, The Last Guardian still remained in full development.
According to Gamespot recently, Sony, “can confirm that the Last Guardian is still in development”.
