Meet Callum Lynch the protagonist of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film, played by Michael Fassbender.
Based on the video-game series of the same name, the movie version is set to introduce new characters into the existing game world.
Callum Lynch, Fassbender’s character was created specifically for the film and is not directly connected with Desmond or the other AC ancestors. (The Assassin’s Creed movie isn’t retelling any of the existing games, but rather introducing new characters into the same world.)
Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor (Maybe with the Animus, though this isn’t confirmed), Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.
Also starring Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave), and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight), cameras start rolling for Assassin’s Creed on Monday. Filming is set to happen in Malta, London, and Spain.
What do you think of the live action look for a 15th Century Assassin? Will you take the ‘Leap of Faith’ on this film? Perhaps you’re worried this will turn out like a number of other films based on video games.
The Assassin’s Creed Movie is set to open in cinemas Dec. 21, 2016.
