After Minecraft: Wii U Edition’s launch in December last year, were finally getting some iconic Nintendo characters.
Following in the footsteps of the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the title, Nintendo, Mojang and Microsoft have announced the “Super Mario Mash-Up Pack“.
Releasing the 18th of May, the ‘Mash-Up’ pack adds 40 character skins of iconic Mario characters, including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and of course everyone’s favourite despotic ruler, Bowser.
The game’s world, monsters and items have had a makeover to look like their straight out of the Super Mario world.
Players will be able to fend off blocky Hammer Bros. and Dry Bones the same way they do Creepers and Zombies. The updated soundtrack will feature 15 pieces of music from Super Mario 64.
Upon installing the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, players will also receive access to a Super Mario-themed pre-made world. Take a closer look at the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack in action in this trailer.
Players can download the Super Mario pack from May 18th at no additional cost if they have already purchased Minecraft: Wii U Edition. It is also worth noting that a physical version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition is planned to launch ‘soon’ which will also be compatible with the pack.
The Wii U version of Minecraft features Off-TV Play, touch screen functionality and online multiplayer.
Minecraft: Wii U Edition can currently be downloaded in Nintendo eShop for Wii U.
The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack comes exclusively to Minecraft: Wii U Edition on May 18.
